This book is a must for every renters library and encompasses the mission here at Rental Decorating Digest in "Helping Renters Live as if They Own", by making your place not just an apartment, but a home.
Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan takes us on an "eight step" journey to help us understand ourselves, so we can secure a healthier, more personalized living space. Regardless of the size apartment we inhabit ( his is only 250 sqft) he states there is always a way to make it feel like "home". I really appreciated reading about the realistic living situations of apartment dwellers and his simple effective suggestions on how to make any space work for you.
The information in this book is not only useful for those living in apartments, but is also recommend to anyone who is living in a rental. His focus is not on describing styles, but on how to make a space work by allowing the reader to determine what type of environment would most nurture their needs.
This tool has workable "how-to" content mixed with illustrations to easily walk you through each activity during the eight step process. It also offers a maintenance program to keep you on track with this new lifestyle. This is a well composed interior design/lifestyle enhancement resource that I feel could be invaluable to anyone who struggles with understanding how to make an apartment feel like home.
2 thumbs up from me!
