Versatile Accents

Isn’t it great that we all have the freedom of decorating our spaces in any style that we desire!  The challenge is---how can you be sure about what accent piece will work in what room  and how will it  look “the best” in the space provided?  Well, here are a few designer tips that might make your decorating  experience a little easier.
 
MIRROR IMAGE:
 
Mirrors come in all shapes and sizes.  Circles are all a buzz in the home décor industry and I love this blend of tone on tone mirror mixing and matching the frame shapes and the tone on tone colored dots.  However, if this isn’t your look, consider leaning smaller mirrors on a mantel, buffet or shelf while larger scale mirrors can be leaned against a wall.  Mirrors will reflect what’s opposite them so consider positioning a mirror so that it will reflect a beautiful window which will help bring in more light and bring the outdoors inside.
 
BENCH MARKS:
 
Benches never get their deserved accolades as far as I’m concerned!  We often forget that they not only can serve as seating or a simple accent piece but can be used as a storage unit.  Consider positioning benches at the foot of a bed, in a foyer, mudroom, with a kitchen table, a large bathroom or even outside on a covered patio.
 
TABLE TALK:
 
This is a wide open topic because tables come in so many shapes and sizes however the biggest trend in tables right now are the bar-height tables that run about waist high or taller.  This style of table will make a great accent piece for smaller rooms used for dinning or entertaining.  Don’t forget to pair this style of table with tall bar chairs as well.
 
Otherwise consider using an ottoman to double as a coffee table by positioning a serving tray on top for decorative accessories or appetizers for your guests.
