I’ve always been a big fan of flea markets, garage sales and dumpster diving! Yep, my entire home is mostly filled with some fabulous finds that make it so comfy and eclectic!

And speaking of eclectic, I have a fellow designer friend named Violette Clark who has no fear when it comes to dumpster diving or using colourful paint on peoples discards at the end of their driveways.  Now most of her pieces in and around her home are from those treasure hunting expeditions.  And she’s even made a skateboard table from a castaway top of a skateboard she found on the side of the road – Violette immediately had creative vision for this discarded piece! Now that’s creative.

Since it’s summer time, I thought I’d share one of her colourful, funky furniture pieces that you can easily transform yourself. All you need is a thrift store find or go on a treasure hunt in your own home and find an old worn out coffee table that needs a little facelift. You can be as bold or as conservative as you like with this simple project. And all you need it paint! Violette uses this piece on her deck so if you’re using furniture meant to be used inside---for the outside---just be sure you use a really good outdoor sealer! And remember---please don’t be afraid of color!
