Outdoor Copper Accents By Columnist Kathy Peterson - KathyPeterson.com Too often, we neglect our backyard, patios, decks and even our front porches. That can be a big mistake because our outdoor space is just as important as the interior of our living space. Outdoor décor can convey your own personal style so here are a few tips to add a little sparkle using copper accents for your outdoor space.
THE COLOR OF COPPER Never underestimate the wonderment of copper. This lightweight birdbath really sets the stage for this outdoor space. Not only is it portable, it can be disassembled and stored in winter months and it has multiple uses. For décor ambiance, I like to float candles and flowers in a birdbath for a relaxed outdoor look. Potted plants like orchids or annuals will always look regal in a copper pot and can add shine to any dark area of patio, balcony or deck. Then when the cold months return, these planters will also look nice inside your home for displaying pretty seasonal plants and flowers. Who would have thought that a copper window box would look so good hanging a deck or balcony railing! I love this look and even added a little bit of fringe for a whimsical look. Of course this was done for photography purposes, but the same idea could be used for a special backyard party or other event. Otherwise I would not advise leaving the fringe outdoors for any length of time due to weather and other outdoor elements. BRIGHTEN UP A SHADY AREA
I had a blast pulling this casual deck décor together using lots of pretty copper and wicker accessories. I chose white wicker to help brighten up the shady area then added copper accents for a little bit of sparkle to make this space a welcome spot to rest and relax. Of course, if wicker isn’t your style consider using metal or other types of outdoor furniture as well. So the next time you’re ready for a fresh spin on your outdoor space, consider using copper accessories to add charm to your own outdoor space. Then invite your family and friends over for a relaxing outdoor experience! Have fun! | |
