Decorating With PVC
Are you working on a tight budget ? Is your apartment missing something... A room divider, plant stand, fireplace screen, curtain rod, a drying rack, furniture to sit on? PVC pipe may be your answer !
PVC pipe, generally used for plumbing purposes, is now being used in decorating. Its lightweight properties along with its ability to be shaped and connected allows any inventive decorator the freedom to be creative and make anything from a coat rack to a bar and stool set... ( at very little cost).
This Room Divider / Privacy Screen is just one of the projects The PVC Store lists on their website. These instructions provide a supply list along with simple directions for construction. Courtesy of The PVC Store
The PVC Stores furniture grade PVC pipe display is available in 385 stores nationwide. These displays include other essential elements for building your own furniture such as special made casters, chair slings and a How-To Instruction Booklet a variety of projects.
Glenn Carr, National Sales Manager told us "Our pipe has special "Impact Modifiers" to make it stronger, and "UV Stabilizers" to make it completely weather protected against extreme heat, sunlight, and deep freezing temperatures." Which brought up an important point, these projects can be used indoor and outdoor ( talk about double duty furniture).
With the wide selection of paints available, these surfaces can be painted or faux finished to match your current decorating style. A suggestion would be to use textured paints to create depth and interest while taking away the feeling of "plastic". This is an extremely cost effective way to create the furniture you need while giving you the chance to personalize each piece.
Special Thanks to Glenn Carr from The PVC Store for the use of this information.
