Kitchen Countertops: Easy Ways to Hide the Flaws

iconicon
Apartment living has numerous advantages. Maintenance is no longer a concern, but apartment life also has a few disadvantages, and updates can be one of the main problems apartment dwellers face. Even in high-end apartment homes kitchen countertops are sometimes damaged by careless residents, but you do not have to live with countertop flaws. Here you will find a number of easy ways to hide kitchen countertop flaws while making one of the most popular rooms in your apartment more decorative and functional than ever.

Decorative Glass Cutting Boards to Cover Flaws

These days you will find an array of decorative glass cutting boards that will sufficiently hide apartment countertop flaws, and they are available in all sizes. Find textured glass cutting boards in a style that matches the design and color of the apartment kitchen, and use them to cover a damaged portion of the surface or all of the kitchen countertops. Best of all, the cutting board cover-ups can be used and washed when necessary.

Sealed Granite Tiles for Covering Flaws

Granite kitchen countertops are beautiful, and if apartment countertops have unsightly flaws they can be transformed into countertops that have the look of granite. Better yet, the tiles are removable, and the countertops beneath can be cleaned and left in their former condition if the time ever comes to relocate from the apartment to another home.

Begin by measuring the kitchen countertops, and buy the appropriate number of granite tiles from a local home improvement store along with a tile cutter and tile sealer. Layout the tiles against the backsplash, and measure and cut the remaining tiles to completely cover the kitchen countertops. Lastly, finish the tiles with sealer according to product label instructions. Once the sealer has completely dried, layout the tiles to cover the kitchen counter.

Keep in mind, the tiles are completely removable, and spilled liquids will seep in between the cracks. The counter beneath will require regular cleaning, as will the backs of the tiles, but the sealed granite will give the apartment kitchen an entirely new and rich appearance. If you do not want to cover all of the countertops you can at least seal several tiles that go well with the existing color and cover the areas with flaws.

Stylish Bamboo to Cover Countertop Flaws

If granite is not your style, consider buying a number of bamboo cutting boards to cover damaged or worn apartment countertops. Bamboo is ecologically friendly, and bamboo cutting boards are available in a wide range of styles and sizes. It is said to be almost 20 percent harder than maple, and it can be used to completely cover scratched or worn kitchen countertops.

When living in an apartment with built-in furnishings, if you do not like them, it really is very easy to cover them up in ways that will enhance the look of the home. With a little creativity and ingenuity, you can transform a basic apartment into a lovely home that is impressively decorated and furnished. Living in an apartment does not mean you have to give up on having the home decor and furnishings you want. You just have to find temporary ways to improve what you have.
